Living for Christ

The story of David Livingstone:
the missionary of the mid eighteen hundreds,
that pioneered the gospel to the “dark continent” of Africa.

As a teenager, he prayed:

"Lord,
Send me anywhere,
only go with me.

only sustain me.
Sever me from any ties
but the tie that binds me
to Your service and Your heart."

This God-given vision of doing missions to reach new peoples in the interior of Africa and introduce them to Christianity, as well as freeing them from slavery sustained Livingstone through years of separation from his loved one, physical hardships, agony and pain for 32 years.

His vision was to reach the described
“a thousand villages that never a missionary had seen”.

After 32 years, he was found dead in the mission field of Africa,on his knees praying.

His heart was buried in Africa and the rest of his
body was taken back to London and buried in Westminster Abbey.

The memorial tablet in Westminster Abbey reads:

For thirty years his life was spent in an unwearied effort to evangelize the native races, to explore the undiscovered secrets, and abolish the desolating slave trade of Central Africa.

The African people said,
“His body may go, but his heart must stay,
for he brought the heart of the gospel to the heart of our nation.”

One hundred and fifty years later, that seed he has sown
has now produced over seventy-five million converts throughout that continent.

He left behind a legacy.

YES MAN!

It's such a hilarious movie and i enjoyed it so very much! Especially the part when it went, "Would you like to invite YES into your life?"
HAHAHAH.
Plus i was sitting besides two wonderful people- Faith & Karen!

Eating the flower cookie filled w love from Val, awwww, what could be better!

Anyway, with regards to the movie, it would be quite funny if you do answer YES to everything. I shall try that some time soon, as a short experiment or something, to see where it gets me!

I did quite a lot of things today, felt quite accomplished!

Met up with the people for a short meeting first, with much surprises in store for me,
proceed to head back home for dinner with my funny family members.

Then, i rushed off to Bugis to meet good old'OC! heh:) it's been awhile!

Though it was a small one, only with Yiting, GM, Bryan and Xavier, we had nice chats here and there, with GM snapping away with his precious 16.1 megapixel camera. Cool thang man!

Bryan said it is so clear it could zoom in to every single blackhead on our faces. HAHA.

Anyway it has been a pleasing week for me, with much more in-store. Every single day is filled with more of knowing myself better, knowing someone else better. Filled with just being joyful and free/liberated.

I'm still praying really hard if it might have a chance to ya know....
snow or something, since the weather has taken a turn for uber cold-ness.

Heart of the Maker

A thought just hit me this week,
and boy oh boy,
am i awestruck-ed by it.

It started off with Carol holding two pebbles in her hands,
asking me to chose one.

One was a tiny pebble, another my favorite heavy one.

Left hand or Right hand?
Left or Right?

I insisted on Right-
I insisted on my way.

She then urged me to chose the left hand:
'choose left! are you sure? take the left one!'
she said.

But i replied with a firmed No
believing that she was tricking me,
i insisted on having what i think was right for me.

'I want the pebble in the right hand'

As it is,
when she opened-
the heavy pebble i wanted was in her left.

It then made me think about
our Maker.

Being such a good Father He is,
He always leaves us with choices

Good paths, Bad paths
Right decision, Wrong decision;
He left it up to us to choose.

Never once He forced His will upon us,
and never did we thought of how He'd felt
when we insisted our way

We chose what we think was right
for ourselves,
without listening to Him at times

It must had been more heartbreaking-
knowing what is best for us,
yet
still allowing us to have freedom to choose

To see His own children choosing some ways,
that might not be good for them-
but He let us try

It must have been easier to leave us
with good choices,
being strict with us,
limiting us to only what is right,
doing what any parents would do;
but He did not

He went ahead,
knowing that we may fall at times,
His heart-aching twice as hard

He chose to give us freedom of choice
only because of one simple reason:
He loves us

And He even went to the extend
of promising us that He will be with us;
not giving up on us

it must have hurt Him
when we then start to blame Him
for not giving us the best;

when it was actually us,
who made all the incorrect choices,
refusing to listen to Him...

it broke my heart knowing this.

My Life, Your Song

Been spending much time with these two beautiful ladies.

Just caught a movie w them, Body of Lies.
They were amazed at how i felt asleep at all the boring (for me) conversations,

ISS CAMP

Well aloooha!

I'm back from camp in case you didn't know. It has been great and all, i took quite a few pictures this time! The kids are all about 10years old.

(Okay, it was a coincidental that the school that i'm taking is an International school, i totally did not plan for it! In case you're wondering why are there always ang mohs during camp, like some of you asked.)

Filled with LIFE.

The EDGE night was indeed spectacular. More than just it, i begun to discover, by the words of others- that i actually have another talent; or so you may call it!

Pretty excited about it, cause it means I can work on it to grow in that area. Imma decided to stop waitin' around and write those ideas down to FINALLY make it into actions to be done.

Anyway I've learn much on that tired-out night, on the train home. I've listened to two normal/mundane people who were once again, made Extraordinary by the Creator.

They shared about their dreams.

I love how the way their eyes lit up when they spoke, each sentence filled with enthusiasm and excitement. Every word seemed to be filled with life, compared to just a mere conversation. People with purpose, people who were given a purpose when they came in touch with Almighty. Heart longing for more, dreams have yet to be unfulfilled.

I want to be of such a person as well, to be a carry-er of purposes and dreams. And i will be, cause i know i can:)

Anyway, lappy's back and i'm really happy about it. After being sick for like about a week, making me senseless without it, it has fully recovered! I have finally gotten down to reboot this woman here and bought a new hard disk of 320GB to backup in case she dies on me again. Hows that!

Take Me Away

I'm stuck at home for the day, up to my neck in work. Two more days to hand up my PP project and i still can't think of what else to write.

I need a breakzxz!

Standing by the window last night,

but as for me
i wished i am tucked away in camp
simple but peaceful
with that same beautiful sight
which i can't stop admiring

As i stood closing my eyes

oh how i wish i'm in camp!

Yes i know, funny thing to want to be in camp.

But i especially love camps, in fact, right now i wished i can do a mud-walk and to roll in the sticky thick blackish mud. Or to hike up a small hill, or run on the huge green never-ending field. That is where contentment overflows!

How about lying on my back on the benches when it is dark to look at the star-filled sky? Or doing all these with a group of adventurous friends?

I do really love outdoor camps.

Blast week; filled w love

Only a week, but a thousand events bypass me. Thoughts running ahead of me, faster than time permits me to analyze each and every single one of them. Many times I've done what i could, sometimes failing, but most of the time in quick victory.

Nonetheless, this week's a blast as well. I think that the main topic Mr. Almighty wants to paint in my head this week was all about the wonderful Love; through people. Happenings seems to appear altogether to emphasis that point, and i don't believe it's what you'll call 'Coincidental'.

First day of school was pretty much good as well. Made a few friends there 'n here, got bullied by my Facilitator and had a stalker. Kelly's class was just opposite mine and she could see me anytime by just glancing out of the window! She even caught me sleeping for a short while and MSN-ED me to wake up, weird!

Oh, during class, i had this pleasant surprise! Mine primary school friend suddenly came and talked to me! I only remember him as the tall-super-nice guy Mr. monitor that was my partner, cause i was the monitor-ess! heh.

We had quite a long conversation and caught up with one another, i'm still quite amused at the fact of being able to find someone who i haven't talked for like what, 7 long years?

The form teacher back then always made us skip some classes to sit together and do work for her! I can't remember much, except that right then i carry this cool BRIGHT lime green backpack to school and i'm really very proud of it!

By the end of the day, my Faci was like, 'Hey Ame! It seems that you like IM alot huh? You've been doing that all day!' And i went cropping up some excuses like i only IM during my free time blah, but he didn't bother! HAHAH.

Anyway, I'm pretty much blessed and overwhelm by love. As i said, just a week, but i've gotten about almost all i wanted, mentioned in the previous posts. A bag sponsored by Momsy and my Adidas Baby by the groupie.

I was so overwhelmed that i went speechless, and that's a first. I totally did not expect that lovely surprise at all! The reason was not only caused by the watch, but it's the group of people that touched my heart even more, with the closest of people contributing just makes it as special.

Here's a huge THANK YOU. I don't really know what else to say, you guys went that extra mile just for me, it's not even like my birthday or whatsoever. I'm really very touched and it made my day/week. It was really very encouraging, i needed that. You guys rocks man!

Well, i guess have to say thank you to my beautiful Amanda sissy as well! She wanted to get the watch for me as well, but before she could get it, the groupie got it first. Don't be so depressed over not being able to get it for me, i still have tons of things that are pleasing to my eyes!:) I LOVE YOU TOO!

The unconditional love that you all have around me just motivates me to go on further, knowing that i have such a huge family behind me, supporting me!

I mean like what could i ask for, a devoted mom, a noisy coming-back pop, 'TWO' wonderful families, a fat dog and a perfect Almighty Dad. Life can't be better:)

One more thang, i can't wait for Carol to come back from Japan to do a triple flip for me as a promise! Can you imagine that, she even told me she's working on it! HAHA.

Funny Human Congestion

I went out with lovely sis today to go shopping, and we had paper steamboat for lunch! Yes, it is the first time i ever tried it, because i always had a bad impression of it.

Actually, truth to be told, it taste rather good! Especially when it is boiling and you put the pork in and then into your mouth... The feeling is just awesome!

We also had this cool mango dessert over at Plaza Sing, with the mango juice all over..

Anyway, something weird happened. Actually, i rather like it and thought that it was rather funny, but Amanda was on the verge of killing me for being able to stay so positive through it all..

We were like passing through Citylink mall to take the mrt and then while walking halfway, just outside New York New York, everyone just suddenly freeze for awhile. Probably because the crowds coming from both ends were huge, due t the Comex IT fair.

So everyone just paused and it happened; everyone got jammed up for like a minute or so, thinking that an accident or something great as happened. But so it seems, that nothing great in particular was happening that people start squeezing their way through from both ends. I was stuck for about 10minutes, but only so because i was quite in front of the jam when it happened.

By the time i walked to the transition escalator near Cityhall MRT, the jam has almost already affected that place as well. I kept telling Amanda how great it was to stay and watch everyone being jammed and eventually the whole MRT station would be as well! But she almost murdered me, so we just moved on..

Yeah, to side track, i found this picture in my phone, so i posted it up, in hope of remembering a day last week, where much laughter is being done.

Jon Lee was teaching my big sis and Jyings how to fold Origami and boy, he surprised me! He knows practically all the origami to fold, from hearts to stars, to planes and whatever it is. Jyings stayed over and we spend half the night doing that. How fun. Probably just NOT my thing.

In case you're wondering, Tinker is still doing fine. Just being the Queen bummer at home, doing pretty nothing much but to sleep like a baby.

I was looking through the backpacks that i wanted to get like 3 months back and i still can't decide. The competition between the two brand is just that good.

Should i get Dickies? But it's really common in Singapore now, everyone's like carrying it, overrated. But they have a huge range of designs though...

I'm finally getting my butt down on the chair and typing. Many delayed post, oh well, all i can say is the heart is willing, the flesh is weak. HAHAH.

I'd just type whatever my heart carries me to in this post.

These couple of weeks have really been a much busier-than-normal, yet at the same time even more eventful. How should i put it; full of bustle but speaking of the joy following it.

I've definitely learn much more about myself through people and occurrences, learn more about us humans, more about relationships, more about Abba, more about practically everything.

To start things off, the morning prayers has done me a good deal. Being able to wake up early in the morning (FYI, earlier than secondary school!) then going for deep-er relational fellowship after that has been a really fulfilling lifestyle. I do hope to keep it always, but as what Carol said, you don't need a system to keep you in check if you really want something. True to the point.

Many thoughts have been coming to me, i only keep good ones of course:) and i've learn how to take things easier i guess. Not as if i'm taking things too hard or anything, but i really learn how to let things go better, to be able to abase and abound.

Oh, i am pretty much determined to learn the guitar. YES PEOPLE, YOU HEARD ME RIGHT. Just in case i get yer hopes too high, i only wana learn one song; hanging by a moment. I just can't get enough of it, and it's pretty much a sweet song.

Another random fact, i do really like pretty cupcakes, they make me smile a whole lot. So if yer passing by any shops and feeling real generous, WHATCHA WAITING FOR?:D

Okay, i do really want to catch Marley & Me the movie like a lot.

I can't get enough of the video ad they placed up. I can just repeat it like a trillion times. Go watch it yourself; CLICK. Does look very similar to Tinker when she was young. Alright, VERY SIMILAR, except Tinker was much fatter.

I'm heading out with sis on Friday and i can't wait! It's on my excitement nerves now if we do have any. Chilling with jyings tomorrow, how about going to the gym as well? yeah i think it's a great idea. Swimming perhaps.

Oh! I hanged out with my best brother recently and i have the best Japanese food ever! My favorite Unagi noodles.

Weers's family treated me to Sakura buffet dinner yesterday as well, awesomeee thang. The sister was a cute lil one, looking almost exactly like her.

I've watched Money No Enough 2 with my mom as well, and Abby. Will post the pictures up soon. It was quite a fun day, with the three of us happily running and laughing in the rain. Family moments.

FILLED W JOY

I had a little time off alone this afternoon, with only Tinker by my side. I really enjoyed the temporary silence my home offered and it's been a long time since it happened. In case you didn't realise just yet, yes, I am a home person. Very much.

Took a short nap which seemed like hours and went out to catch a movie after that. Meet Dave was awesome, hadn't laughed at a movie that hard quite awhile too! Nowadays, the comedy screened ain't that funny anymore.

In fact, at one silent part of the movie, i couldn't control myself but to snort loudly when i knew what was going to happen and of course almost everyone turned to stare at me.

But it didn't really bother me much because i caught the movie with this good ol' buddy of mine who couldn't really care how much i laughed, felt at ease i should say:D

Today was a wonderful day; slow-paced, filled w laughter and enjoyment, i could literally feel myself smiling the whole day. It was a simple day, yet FILLED W JOY:)

Though holidays are here, but i'm not that free-d up as i thought i am going to be. But it's a good thing aye. Tons of things to be written, many pictures to be uploaded, i promise, as soon as possible!

I had this terrible nightmare last night. It's a been a reaally long time since i had one.

I remember waking up in the darkness feeling terrified, my heart fluttering wildly. Couldn't totally remember what was the dream about, but fear surrounded me and the scary images keep flashing through my mind, refusing to get out.

I turned over to my side, and mumbled a brief prayer, asking for the temporary terror to go away.

Suddenly, i felt warmth around me, like a kind of protection and the images were instantly gone. In the end, i drifted off to sleep with a smile on my face, fully assured that nothing could happen to me. I'm wrapped around love's arms.

Things that happened today:

1) HEH, LOOK AT ALL THE A's from last week.

and the funny conversation that followed;

Yeah, i kinda was like 'teh-ing' me mom for praises. :D

2) I wore my shirt inside-out all the way from home until I reached school. Not only i did not realised it at all, seeing that i went to the toilet twice, all my friends around didn't even saw it as well!

It was until my facilitator kept staring at me, until he finally muster the courage and flabbergasted, telling me he really DO think that i wore my shirt the wrong way. I was shocked of course, and everyone laughed, but i took it coolly and went to the toilet to change.

Good thing i DID actually know, comparing the fact that i COULD have went home the same way too!

3) I racked my brains to do a lot of codes today actually, almost ALL. Yes, i know, WHEN DID I BECOME AN IT EXPERT?!

Well, i just did!:) Wisdom came upon me. Just like that.

So, what happened was I felt really tired and sleepy, guess all my brain juice was used up, and I just fell asleep. Just like that, on my table, into a deep sleep some more.

And i heard my faci's blooming voice that went, :"AMELIA! I know your very tired, you have done a lot already, but...." and continued to tell me how to edit them even better.

Yeah, in a nice i-understand kind of voice.

4) Talking about him, our team's presentation background color was light blue, but somehow on the projector, it darken. So it was rather difficult to see the words, thus he started commenting on it.

then my teammate gleefully replied,"Oh, its because your eyesight getting worst/old!"

and my faci replied, "Oh yeah? Alright, one grade down for you"

class started laughing wildly and he kept quiet. HAHA.

5) Something miraculous happened in the train. I shall not type it down here, but it emphasis on making me understand something even better; Ask and it shall be given to you.

6) I experienced 'i walk by faith and not by sight' this morning, literally. Cause i forgot my contacts.

Currently munching on my favorite cookie from Subway, by Corrina. Yeah, the hot topic now seems to be 'Friends.'

So.. school has been alright recently, they taught us how to spam people with fake emails, seriously!

This is one of what i've learn to do.

so now you know who it is if you receive such mails..

Anyway as i met up with Rach just now, i was left pondering over this thought that i replied her,

Truly, i want free of my thoughts,
that it CANNOT limit whatever things I can do.

I'll never cut my hair myself again

Yeah you got me, NEVER.EVER.AGAIN.

Reason being, after i had my haircut today at the salon, i went home, unhappy with my sticking out fringe. So i stood in front of the mirror, thinking how difficult could it get right? It's just a snip, and many people cut their hair themselves.

Foolishly, i think i thought it was so fool-proof that i kinda forgot the only thing that could be a risk was that I was the one cutting.

Smugly, i took the scissors, couldn't aim at first, couldn't see my fringe properly. Then i could, and w a smile, i snipped it. Of course, that was until.. i looked into the mirror.

I actually cut it way too short, and now it's half the length of the original. When i stepped out of the room, i was a joke to my sisters. They could actually laughed till their sides stitched. Can you imagine how bad that is?!

So i promise myself never to do such things to myself. Yes, neva eva again!

If you were wondering, NO, even if you beg me, i wouldn't show it to you. Lucky i could still push it to the side and i'm not exposing it to anyone!

Anyway, if you were wondering where's tinker now, she's doing alright. Getting naughty now actually. I lost her blog password thats why it ain't updated, perhaps when i have time i'll create one more for her, i'd consider:)
